How did you find out or get involved with Dutch Ice Hockey (Amsterdam Tigers) and how did that all start?

My dad worked in Amsterdam (Holland Casino) and loved to go and watch hockey games. After a while one of his friends invited me to join his practices in Amsterdam. That’s how I started skating as a 3 year old.

What’s your earliest hockey memory and what got you into hockey?

What do you love most about hockey?

The hockey community, traveling the world (WC, training camps & tournaments) and making friends along the way. Also the life skills I learned due to hockey like: team dynamics, discipline, setting and reaching goals, overcome setbacks etc..

If you could change one rule in hockey what would you change?

Allowing body checking in (all top) female leagues

Do you have any pre game rituals?

Start doing a light workout or walk in the morning, get a pre-game coffee with teammates, set a personal goal for the upcoming game, playing two-touch (soccer game) during off ice warm-ups

Favorite meal (pre-game and just favorite all around)?

Lates 3-4 hours before puck drop a bowl of oatmeal topped with fruits/nuts or peanut butter/seeds for an early game or a bowl of pasta with a lot veggies and chicken before a late evening game. All round: sushi restaurant

The Mighty Ducks

Favorite NHL Player?

Daniel Sprong, cause he started playing in Amsterdam

Favorite city to travel to?

Lofoten islands, Norway

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received from a coach?

Aim / reach to the goals you’ve set, but never forgot to have fun / enjoy the journey.

Accept the situation. If you don’t want to accept it, change it. If you can’t change it, accept it and make the best of it.
